PDLC Smart Film · Locally Installed · Locally Warranted
Request a Tailored ProposalToggle the switch — watch your glass transform
You've invested in Lutron lighting, a Control4 or Savant system, motorized everything — and then your designer hands you a binder of shade samples. Fabric. Rollers. Tracks you can see. Hardware that ages.
And if you've looked into smart glass before, you've probably landed on one of two uncomfortable options: a national window film company that doesn't really understand PDLC technology, or an out-of-state online vendor who ships you a product and disappears the moment something goes wrong inside your $5M home.
You're not being paranoid. The stories are real — film that yellows within eighteen months, delamination in Arizona's heat, "customer service" that stops answering calls once the invoice is paid. When it happens in a property at this level, in front of your architect, your designer, or your guests, the damage isn't just aesthetic.
For the interior designers and architects reading this: you know the feeling of recommending someone new and watching it become your problem when things go sideways. You need a sub you can stake your reputation on.
Desert Smart Glass LLC is a husband-and-wife-operated PDLC smart film company serving the Scottsdale and Paradise Valley luxury market — and nothing else. We are not a national franchise. We are not a mail-order supplier. We are local, licensed, and standing behind every single installation with our name and our number.
We supply and install Smart Glass Country's Crystal and Ultra smart film — two of the most rigorously tested PDLC films available in the residential market — with a job-site quality control process run personally by our operations lead and a client experience managed by our sales and design coordination team from first call through final inspection.
When your system is installed, it integrates directly into your existing Lutron, Control4, or Savant ecosystem. One button, one voice command, one scheduled scene — and your floor-to-ceiling glass shifts from perfectly clear to completely opaque in under a second. No hardware visible. No track. No fabric.
For designers and architects: we are the local smart film sub you can spec with confidence. We show up, we finish clean, we warrant the work, and we make you look brilliant.
Smart film is a permanent architectural investment — typically comparable to a premium motorized shade system for the same glass coverage, without the ongoing mechanical costs, motor replacements, or visible hardware at any price point. Every project is scoped and quoted individually based on your glass surfaces, zone configuration, and integration requirements.
This is the right question and it deserves a direct answer. Smart Glass Country Crystal and Ultra are tested for long-term UV exposure, thermal cycling, and high-humidity environments. We install only these two product lines because we have vetted them specifically for the Sonoran Desert climate. And unlike an out-of-state vendor, if there is ever a warranty issue — delamination, electrical failure, discoloration — you are not calling a 1-800 number. You are calling the person who was on your job site. We carry a 2-year workmanship warranty and a supplier warranty of up to 7 years on Ultra film.
We understand this hesitation because you've seen what happens when out-of-state vendors go silent after the sale. Desert Smart Glass is a locally-owned business with a permanent presence in the Scottsdale market, active relationships with local architects and designers, and owners whose names are on the license and on every proposal. We are not a franchise fulfilling a national order. This is our business, our reputation, and our community.
We have built this business specifically to make design professionals look brilliant. Our operations lead owns job-site quality control personally — every installation is finished to the standard your client expects from your firm. We coordinate directly with your schedule, we don't create change order surprises, and we communicate proactively. When your client stands in front of their finished glass wall and asks who specced it, the answer should make you proud.
Still have questions about pricing, wiring, privacy, or warranty?
Visit the FAQ"We had three bids — two from national tint companies and one from Desert Smart Glass. The difference was immediately obvious. They understood how the film needed to tie into our Savant system, they brought samples, they explained exactly what the finished product would look and feel like. The installation was immaculate. Eighteen months later, every panel performs exactly as it did on day one."
"I've specced smart film once before with an online supplier. It was a nightmare — the film had a visible seam, the controller wasn't compatible with the home's system, and the vendor stopped returning calls. Desert Smart Glass is a completely different experience. They communicate before, during, and after. My client called me specifically to say thank you. That doesn't happen with a new sub unless they're exceptional."
"We replaced what would have been motorized shades in our master suite, primary office, and pool-facing great room. The cost was comparable to premium Hunter Douglas — but there are no shades. No tracks. No fabric. The glass is just glass when we want it to be, and completely private when we don't. My husband integrated it into a single Control4 scene and we've never thought about it since."
